Home Page Wembury Point,The Old Slipway Back to previous screen

If you walk along the beach to Wembury Point rather than on the cliff path, you will come to the remains of a slipway and boathouse, used for trips over to the Great Mewstone and, further on, the remains of a seawater swimming pool. This was part of the Heybrook Bay Lido, one of the two holiday camps which were built here at the end of the 1920's, both of these camps were closed at the outbreak of World War Two when the MOD requisitioned Wembury Point.
