Restormel Castle, The Chapel The Chapel protrudes from the rear of the curtain wall of the castle with an antechapel together with a cellar inside the wall. What was once the east window of the chapel was filled in during the
English Civil War. Timber supports were placed into this and a gun platform was erected to support cannon. In the only recorded action in the castle's long history; the castle was captured on the 21st August 1644 by a royalist force from the parliamentary garrison. Restormel Castle, The Chapel
