The Royal Albert Bridge (1859), built by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, still carries the main railway line into Cornwall. The Tamar Road Bridge (1961) carries the A38 and its opening in 1961 saw an end to the ferry link from Saltash Passage to Saltash that had existed here for over 600 years.
