Latin name - Aphantopus hyperantus Flight period - June to August Wingspan 4.8 to 5.2 cm, 1.89 to 2.05 inch. The Ringlet is a medium-sized butterfly, sooty brown all over. A butterfly
of woodland rides and edges, hedgerows and damp grassland; bramble and
wild privet flowers are favourite nectar sources. They can be seen flying
with a characteristic bobbing movement even on dull days. They have three
eyespots on the underside of the forewing and five eyespots on the underside
of the hindwings. |
