Latin name - Colias croceus Flight period – May to October Wingspan – 5.2 to 6.2 cm, 2 to 2.5 inch. Description - Greenish yellow with two silver-white spots. Always rests
with wings closed. Upperwings are a deep orange-yellow with broad dark
wing margins. The Clouded Yellow is a migratory butterfly, originating
from North Africa and southern Europe, with numbers varying greatly from
year to year and is famous for occasional mass immigrations. |
